Julie & Andrew
Having worked in a number of interesting and exciting jobs, Andrew and I moved to Cornwall in 1999 for a change of pace. Alpacas featured early in our plans and I found myself finding out more about animal handling and behaviour through Camelidynamics and Tteam. I qualified as a practitioner in both over a number of years and countries and now work as a camelid and horse trainer. Our aim at Carthvean Farm is to be as self sufficient as possible and we grow a lot of fruit and veg and keep Golden Guernsey goats for the milk and cheese. In addition to about 30 llamas and alpacas we also have working mules and other equines, miniature southdown sheep, hens and cats and dogs. We are interested in sustainability, forest gardening, the Transition Movement and Zen Buddhism.
We were Wwoof hosts for about five years and are still in touch with many of our past wwoofers, some of whom still visit us. – Julie
